Today was the first day I felt relatively normal since coming home. Jetlag is one thing, but there's also the fact that Europe is LA's opposite in every shape, angle, and bit of atmosphere. I love LA. I love to visit Europe, but in a purely zoological 'oh wow look at all the pretty things' sense. Churches are pretty. Italian is pretty. Italian boys are pretty. Sicily is incredibly pretty. But I'm still grateful for my smog and space and sun. Term 'Euro-dookie' coined by one Jim Interlandi, referring to the strange anomaly that is the non-existence of poop while eating nothing but Italian food. A strict diet of bread, pasta, veal, red wine, and ice cream does naught to clean the bowels. Apparently Italians know this and have devised all sorts of inventive schemes for flushing their dookie down the toilet. Never the same toilet twice, I tell you. Going to watch some surreal animation. Nothing like a little blood-and-guts and recurring symbolism to finish off an evening.
